Erin Holmes, Voice
Best known for her work in Strathmore Hall's opera series debut of the children's
opera Sid the Serpent Who Wanted to Sing, as well as frequent performances with the
Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Erin Holmes is a versatile singer who embraces both
concert music and operatic repertoire.
As a recitalist, Erin has performed classical
works ranging from Mozart, Handel, Brahms and Debussy to 20th century composers such
as Messager, Britten, De Falla, Bolcom, and Garwood. Past opera and musical theater
roles have included Jeannette in Edwin Penhorwood's Too Many Sopranos, the Narrator
in Robert Kapilow's children's opera Gertrude McFuzz, and Mrs. Nordstrom in Stephen
Sondheim's A Little Night Music.
Erin has enjoyed innumerable competition successes.
She has won first place awards in both the Henry Sanborn Music Competition in October
2004 and Towson University's Talent Award Competition in 2002. In April 2004, Erin was
a second-place winner in the prestigious Sidney Lieberman Music Competition. Most
recently, Erin collaborated with Baltimore-area composer Katie Turyna, recording a cycle
of meditative sacred music to be released in spring 2005.
Because Erin is fluent in
Spanish, she is able to serve as a Spanish coach to many singers.
Erin has a Bachelor
of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Towson University.
